Our Educators

Sally Ibbotson

My name is Sally. I have been a Kindergarten teacher for many years. I took a break from teaching to do my overseas experience and later to have my family. I have a son who is an architect, here in Queenstown and my daughter is a photographer, in Melbourne. My husband and I moved to Queenstown 15 years ago, to extend his law firm, into the Central Otago Region. Sadly, he has since passed away and I have resigned from my position, as a kindergarten teacher, to allow me to follow my heart and undertake ‘ True Kiwi Play.’

I am passionate about play in the ‘Natural Environment’ and working more closely with children, on a one to one basis. Queenstown being the capital of outdoor experiences, lends itself to children, visiting Queenstown, being involved in ‘True Kiwi Play’, where they, too, can have a fun day of play. Parents can take time out to do adult activities, knowing their child / children are in safe care, enjoying creative activities, in a truly wonderful natural, stimulating environment.

We are delighted to be able to offer your child / children everyday New Zealand experiences that will enhance their knowledge and provide them with special memories of their time spent in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Being a Mum myself and a teacher, I have had many years of experience, nurturing and caring for children, keeping them happy and safe, while having fun.

Tara and myself are only too happy to negotiate hours and any other care or requests required outside of ‘True Kiwi Play’ time. We are experienced at working with children with no English or English as a second language.

I look forward to meeting both you and your child / children and providing them with a fun day out!

Tara Burns

Kia ora, welcome!

There is nothing more important in my life than my two beautiful children who are both school aged. With thirteen years of parenting combined with over twenty years of early childhood teaching in various educational settings and a background in creativity and art, I continue to be passionate about children’s early years and their uniqueness and providing the best opportunities possible.

Knowing that your child/children are also precious to you, Sally and I aim to provide a balanced educational play programme utilising the wonderful, natural environment of Queenstown that we live in with the wellbeing of your child/children at the fore.

We look forward to meeting with you so that your child/children can participate in our unique programme creating artful and adventurous experiences to turn into fond memories to take with you from your time in New Zealand.

Hut making in the Queenstown Gardens

I have had the very great pleasure of knowing and teaching closely with Sally and Tara for many years. They are a dynamic, inspirational duo who compliment each other delightfully and have a firm sense of fun and laughter.

Sally is all go, energy plus, fabulous and passionate about children and their learning in the outdoors. Tara is peaceful, gentle and a wonderful listener with an enormous knowledge and wisdom.

Their passion for children’s work and play is electric.

I couldn’t think of a better way for a child visiting Queenstown to spend his or her day than in the care of these two wonderful, caring, kind teachers.

Adventure, safety and FUN assured.
